Search improves our spirit or our psyche?

As usual it has been awhile since I posted. School will do that to you. Anyways, classes are fine, I procrastinate, and I am tired. So life as usual, eh? I have lately been listening to Zen talks (sermosn you could call them) mostly by Alan Watts, and a Roshi from Upaya Zen Center in New Mexico. Particularily the Upaya talks are fantastic, and really stir the spirit, because it is real Zen, not book Zen. I don't meditate nearly enough, always I find excuses. I will keep trying.
More and more I have found myself being drawn towards wanting to write, but I have found I am not very good at "real" writing. So I have resolved to try a writing class next semester to see if I like it. In the past I have never particularily cared about writing, but recently things have changed. I have always tried to find an outlet for my creative energies, but my physical skill is usually lacking (i.e. my drawing ect.) though I do enjoy them. I think if given a chance I will submit "The Toad King" into poetry contests. For those who have not heard the toad king, it is a short poem I concieved whil up at camp and running a 103 degree fever. The walls were talking to me, in a way. So it goes like this:

"The Toad King"
The Toad King wears pants,
But the Toad King knows not where his pants came from,
The Possum knows,
He must know everything,
Why else would he grin so?
He must be God,
Yet in the end the Possum plays dead.

Odd, neh? Well, most find it amusing, and it would certinly make one creepy childrens book.
The world is makeing me angry again. OK, so the Pope said a stupid thing about how the Muslims tend to only bring war and destruction (said the kettle to the pot). So what do the Muslims do? They freak out and make threats of war and violence. Real smart neh? Dammit people, tolerance, tolerance!!! Why is it that people are willing to kill themselves, their family and complete strangers in order to further so small scale war? They say they make a sacrifice for the good of their people. That worked real well in Lebenon. What about makeing a sacrifice towards peace? They say "My family, my sister, my father, my whatever, was killed by so and so for such and such reason." So what do they do, they go kill THEMSELVES and sometimes their family as well. What about making your dead father, dead sister, ect. sacrifices to a peaceful world? One where your grandchildren don't have to worry about getting shot in the street, or their father being killed. So stupid. The world at large is teaching me one thing: Authority does not listen to Reason!
